The Legend of The Kitty Picture

During a news cycle in which several miners were killed in the Sago mine accident caused by lack of regulatory oversight, karateexplosions posted a satirical letter in The Scotty Show! purportedly from George W. Bush to Ben Hatfield (the International Coal Group CEO). In the postscript of the letter, George Bush “drew” a picture of a stick figure cat, because it seemed like the sort of random and irrelevant thing that might just pop into Bush’s head.

In later Scotty Shows, the cat showed up at the end of all correspondence from Bush, usually expressing his displeasure with karateexplosions and The Scotty Show! in general.

At some point, the kitty’s politics became less clear. In some cases, he seems to work for Bush, such as when he put on a uniform and posed for the Bush Iraq War Plan. Other times, he seems to be on our side, such as when he took a dump in a kitty litter box containing Bush, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), and former US Representative Anne Northup (R-KY).

The kitty has become so popular that karateexplosions is not allowed to post a Scotty Show without him, at the risk of being browbeaten by all of the kitty’s fans. Some estimations figure that the kitty’s fans outnumber karateexplosions’s fans by at least a 15 to 1 ratio.

The kitty picture phenomenon can be traced back to the earliest recorded drawings.

It is believed that Norman Rockwell went through several early versions of his self-portrait, because in his heart of hearts he knew that there was a kitty picture inside of him waiting to get out.

This is not a cat. It really isn’t.

The kitty took a walk in the park one day but had no idea an artist was painting the scene. Fearing that being seen with a dog would damage his street cred, he refused to sign the model release form. He was removed from all future versions of the painting.

The extremely famous and popular Camo Kitty.
